Torek equipped himself with the items reverently, as he thought of the ceremonies where Paladins wore the same armor. As he pressed the helmet down over his head, the gaps tightened, squeezing in around the cushion with eerie automation as though it had a mind of its own. He looked into his reflection on the breastplate, the shining silver mythril reflecting how the sidebands of the helmet angled around his jawline. A metallic beak formed around his nose as he watched the transformation continue. Mythril expanded out from the nose covering his cheeks and connecting to the jawline extension as it melded around his chin and flattened out like a beard to shield his neck. Reflective lenses slid in from above his eyes to form translucent frames, and a golden sheen spread over the frames hiding his eyes and the aghast expression he felt forming. Why am I gifted with this?

A small card sat on the bottom of the wood chest, visible as he looked on the otherwise empty container. He picked it up.

“Paladins are born to this service, not because they deserve it, nor could they have earned the honor, but because they are, they serve and display the honor given. The power blessed upon them is the greatest measure of truth they could hope to find. In that, they are most content.”
